Kate Adams
Kate Adams is a dedicated and accomplished songwriter. Kate
grew up in small town Nova Scotia, and her music reflects her
strong love of community. Over the past decade, Kate's music
has grown as have her audiences. Her work as a feature performer
with Summer Festival Showcase led to opportunities with local
radio, where her songs were spotlighted on AVR's Roots and Wings
show.
She has played the stages of Halifax's Harbour Folk, Wolfville's
Java Jive
and Margaretsville's Fundy Folk. Summer festival venues include
Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival and the Bear River Music Festival.
Kate also enjoys lending her voice to benefit projects such
as the Red Cross, Crossroads International, women's shelters
and Christmas Daddies. As a member of the folk music community,
Kate has worked behind the scenes: for three years as a board
member with Fundy Folk (for one of which she was the entertainment
coordinator), and for one year with a Wolfville based concert
promotion team, Waltzin' Fools.
Kate was chosen to participate in the Fundy Folk Songwriters
Project, which was recorded by CBC Radio and broadcast on the
regional program Atlantic Airwaves.
Kate currently is a co-owner of the family-run Union Street
Café, where she hosts a regular folk night.
Equally at home as a solo performer or as a member of the
folk quartet
Cuckoo Moon, Kate's roots based music remains a personal
celebration of relationships and people.
